Turkey Skillet

This is a favorite at our house and is on the menu almost weekly!

When I decide what’s on the menu for the week, there are a few things I look for; nutrient-dense, super-quick, budget-friendly, and flavorful meals. This meal checks all the boxes! You’re going to love this dish!

You can use any type of ground meat. I’ve used lean ground turkey, ground chicken,  grass-fed beef and they were all delicious! Last time I went to the grocery store they were out of sweet potatoes so I used butternut squash and it was just as good! You could easily add other veggies or use whatever you’ve got on hand!

If you are short on time, grab the sweet potatoes or butternut squash that are already chopped and ready to go and the prep on this meal is super quick!

Turkey Skillet

  • 2 tbs olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove
  • cumin
  • chili powder
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 4 cups chopped sweet potatoes
  • 3 cups halved brussel sprouts
  • 1/2 chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese

Add olive oil and chopped garlic clove, and onion to skillet. Cook until onion is translucent. Add ground turkey and cook on medium until meat is cooked all the way through. Sprinkle meat with cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper to your liking. I add about 1-2 tbsp of cumin and 1 tbsp chili powder. Add sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts, and 1/2 cup water to skillet. Cover skillet with a lid and cook about 8-10 minutes or until brussel sprouts and sweet potatoes are soft. Stir occasionally. You may need to add more water to make sure meat doesn’t dry out. Once the veggies are cooked I sprinkle on a little more cumin and chili powder. Then top with freshly grated cheese, wait for it to melt and then dig in!

In less than 30 minutes, you’ve got a healthy mouthwatering meal ready to go! The best part is, clean up is a breeze, only one pan to clean! Am I the only one who hates doing dishes?

This is a great one for when you

If you try it out, be sure to let me know what you think!
